Gwandalan Alive!

Gwandalan Spring Festival / 20th September 2009

Gwandalan Lions have run their third annual Spring Festival which was again an outstanding success. Held on the shores of Lake Macquarie it was wonderful to see another huge crowd on what was a perfect day weather-wise.
The crowd of several thousand was entertained by some great local performers, fifty community and other stalls, jumping castles, climbing wall, a reptile show and some fabulous Mustang cars.
The club donated cheques for $18,846 to 9 local groups including 21 new "state of the art" helmets to the local RFS Brigade. District Governor Marilyn Kenealy has been one of our favorite presenters. The Fair is a huge undertaking for the members who are now planning to see if it can happen again next year.

Our Zone is also raising money for a 3 seater reclining lounge for the renal unit at Lake Haven. Each club will donate $300 towards the cost. Our Anzac Day service was extremely well attended, and our thanks to Doyalson/Wyee RSL sub branch and all those who participated especially Gwandalan Public School pupils, the young members of the Gwandalan RFS and Gwandalan Scouts. The Tidy Towns Award

It's a great acknowledgement of one of the activities of our Lions Club and a handy money spinner for our activities account.
Thanks to the crew working every Saturday at the "Shed" to make it possible.

The new Lions Sign

It's been for a long time in the making, but finally it did happen. We have our new Lions & Lioness Sign installed. Good things take a bit longer.
